COMPILING A BIBLIOGRAPHY

What is it?

  • A list of resources which you have used in researching for an essay, assignment, talk or other project.
  • It is arranged alphabetically by author or title and appears at the end of your piece of work.
  • Information on the Internet is just as protected by copyright as books are.
These sources should also be included in your bibliography.

Why is it important?

  • You must acknowledge your source if you use an idea or information or summary based on another writer’s work.
  • Not doing so is CHEATING and PLAGIARISM.
  • The reader may wish to follow up the resources you have used.

It will be much easier if you add the details of the resource you are using to this list as you go. Do not leave until the end.

IInteractive Citation Maker is an online application that will create a bibliography for you. It also gives clear examples of how to cite the sources they are most likely to encounter, such as printed and electronic books, reference sources, periodicals, and so on
