Dear Parents and Carers,
On Thursday 20th June, Kurunjang Secondary College will be celebrating World Refugee Day. On World Refugee Day, held every year on June 20th, we commemorate the strength, courage and perseverance of millions of refugees. This year, World Refugee Day also marks a key moment for the public to show support for families forced to flee their homes.
At Kurunjang Secondary College we welcome students with refugee status and support their ongoing health and wellbeing in our community.
On this day students will not be required to wear the college uniform to school in exchange for a gold coin donation – which will be collected in Home Group.
All funds raised will go towards supporting the college’s Borneo Expedition and State Schools’ Relief which supports students with hardship. Participation in education is the main way out of poverty and this pathway must remain open to every child. It is our belief that all students deserve the opportunity to participate in their school’s educational activities without barriers. It is our mission to help break down these barriers. Our college motto is to learn, grow, achieve together.
In terms of the non-uniform we ask that students wear clothing in good order (that avoids offensive logos), and remains respectful.
Thank you for your continued support.
